April SciBar Announced
Monday 12th April The April SciBar will be on the first day of the new school term and will be especially suitable for family groups: "The World of Frogs: from Bollington to the Amazon". Andrew Gray, the Curator of Herpetology at Manchester Museum, will explain the many fascinating ways these wonderful creatures have adapted to stay alive, why up to a third of the world’s amphibians are still threatened with extinction, and how research and education is playing a crucial role in conserving them for the future. 11/12/2009 Bollington SciBar in the New Year!
The next three Bollington SciBar meetings will be: Monday 11th January
Our guest speaker will be Paul O’Brien, Professor of Inorganic Materials at Manchester University . Paul, who was unable to join us in November, will tell us something about new and emerging solar technologies. Monday 8th February
This month's guest speaker will be Professor Ian Morison from Jodrell Bank. Ian will lead us through a discussion related to the search for exraterrestrial life. Monday 8th March
Professor Philippa Browning of Manchester University will ask us the question "Nuclear fusion - power for the future?" This gives us the chance to find out the basic principles behind fusion and progress so far towards a workable fusion reactor As always, SciBar is FREE. Anyone from Junior School age to pensioner age will be very welcome to come along and join in the discussions.
